Hey friend,
I’m so glad you made it here for another Wednesday Word. Life can move fast, but these moments remind us to slow down and sit with God’s truth for a bit. My prayer is that today’s devotional gives you a spark of encouragement and a quiet moment of peace in the middle of your week.
Scripture:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
-Matthew 5:14–16 (NIV)
This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to shine our light...not just the kind that comes from being happy or positive, but the kind that comes from truly walking with Jesus.
There’s something beautiful about the way God uses ordinary people (like you and me) to share His love and hope with the world. He could have chosen any way to show Himself, but He chose us. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” That’s not a suggestion; it’s a truth about who you already are in Him. And here's the thing: your light doesn’t have to be loud, perfect, or all put together. It just has to be real.
If I’m being honest, stepping out to start this business has been one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. We live in a world that’s quick to judge and slow to listen, and it can be intimidating not knowing how your words or actions will be received. But God doesn’t call us to stay hidden in what feels safe. He calls us to be bold, share our faith, speak truth, and live in a way that points others toward Him. My prayer is that through this business, every conversation, every act of kindness, and even through these Wednesday devotionals, someone might be drawn a little closer to Him.
So this week, ask God to show you where He wants your light to shine. Maybe it’s sharing your story with a friend, encouraging someone who’s struggling, or just being bold enough to speak His name when the moment comes.
It could also look like offering a kind word when someone’s hurting, forgiving when it’s hard, or simply living with peace when everyone else is anxious. It’s the small, quiet moments of faith that shine the brightest.
And here’s the neat thing about light...
Light doesn’t have to try to shine; it just does.
The closer we draw to God, the more His light naturally spills out of us.
The world doesn’t need more perfection; it needs more people willing to reflect Jesus. You were made for that.
Reflect & Respond
- Where has God placed you to be a light right now?
- Is there someone this week who needs to hear your story or feel God’s love through you?
- What’s one small act of faith you can do today to glorify Him?
A Simple Prayer
Lord, thank You for calling me to be a light in this world. Help me to reflect Your love in every conversation and choice I make. Give me courage to share my faith and compassion to reach those who need it most. May my life point others back to You. Amen.
