Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving | Remembering God’s Goodness This Week
Share
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” - Psalm 100:4–5 (NIV)
Happy almost Thanksgiving!
Where did the year go? With Thanksgiving just a day away, I’ve been sitting with this verse. And the more I read it, the more I’m reminded that thanksgiving isn’t just something we celebrate... it’s something we carry.
This psalm invites us to “enter His gates with thanksgiving,” which means gratitude isn’t based on how calm or perfect life feels… It’s how we step into God’s presence. It’s our posture. Our heart. Our offering.
And maybe that’s exactly what we need this week.
Because let’s be honest, the holidays can be beautiful and overwhelming all at once. Houses get loud, emotions rise, plans change, people show up early, and kids run around as if they’ve never met a bedtime. And in the middle of all that… we can forget to breathe, let alone give thanks.
But here’s the good news: we don’t give thanks because everything is easy.
We give thanks because the Lord is good.
We praise His name because His love endures forever.
We steady our hearts because His faithfulness continues through every generation, including ours.
Thanksgiving becomes a whole lot easier when we stop focusing on what’s missing and start remembering who never changes. Maybe this week, gratitude looks like pausing in the middle of the mess and recognizing the blessings mixed into the chaos, or simply thanking God for His presence, even when everything else feels out of rhythm. We don’t need a quiet table, a perfect meal, or a peaceful home to be grateful.
We just need a moment to remember His goodness.
Reflect & Respond
-
What blessing has God given you this year that you want to intentionally thank Him for?
-
Where have you seen His faithfulness; even if the year hasn’t been easy?
-
How can you carry a heart of thanksgiving into this week, not just the holiday?
Before you start prepping the holiday meal, write down three things you’re thankful for today (big or small) and offer them to God as worship.
A Simple Prayer
Father, thank You for being good, steady, and faithful through every season.
Help me enter this holiday season with a grateful heart, even in the chaos.
Remind me of Your love that never fails and Your faithfulness that never ends.
Fill my home and my heart with Your peace, joy, and gratitude. Amen.
I hope this week brings moments of real rest and joy for you.
