Finding Peace in the Chaos | Trusting God Through Holiday Stress
Share
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Hey friend,
Anyone else a little worried about Thanksgiving break next week? I love the holidays, but if I’m being honest, the change in routine, the extra noise, and trying to keep everyone happy can stir up more anxiety than joy. If that’s you too, you’re not alone.
The holiday season is full of blessings... family, laughter, traditions... but it also comes with stress, unpredictability, and pressure. Our normal rhythms disappear. Kids are home, emotions are higher, sleep is off, and suddenly peace feels like something we have to chase.
Whew… anyone else feel their blood pressure rise just thinking about it all? Just me?
Here's the reminder my heart needed this week:
God’s peace doesn’t depend on circumstances;
it comes from His presence.
Paul didn’t write this verse from a place of comfort. He wrote it from prison, in a situation far from calm. Yet he says, “Don’t be anxious about anything.” He wasn’t ignoring reality, he was anchoring himself to something stronger.
When we bring our worries to God with honesty and thanksgiving, He meets us with a peace that doesn’t even make sense, the kind that guards our hearts and minds when everything around us feels chaotic.
So when the house gets loud, when emotions run high, when the plans fall apart, pause. Take a breath. Whisper a prayer. Thank Him for being steady, even when life isn’t.
You don’t have to hold it all together this week. Or next. Or the next.
You just have to hold onto Him.
Reflect & Respond
-
What part of Thanksgiving break makes you the most anxious?
-
How can you invite God’s peace into your home and heart this week?
-
What might change if you trusted that His presence is enough, even when the schedule isn’t?
Write down one worry, offer it to Him in prayer, and trust Him to meet you with peace.
A Simple Prayer
Father, thank You for being my calm in the middle of every storm. When my heart feels stretched thin, remind me that Your peace is near and Your presence is enough. Help me slow down, breathe, and rest in You, especially in the busy moments ahead. Guard my heart and mind with Your perfect peace this week. Amen.
