Is Anything Too Hard for God?

There are moments in life when our circumstances seem bigger than our faith.

We pray for healing, but the diagnosis remains. We ask God to restore a relationship, but the distance grows. We seek direction, but the path ahead still feels unclear. If we're honest, many of us have faced situations that seemed impossible to overcome.

The people of Judah understood that feeling well.

When God spoke the words found in Jeremiah 32:27, Jerusalem was under siege. The Babylonian army surrounded the city. Destruction was imminent. God's people were facing exile, loss, and uncertainty. From a human perspective, there was little reason for hope.

Yet in the middle of this crisis, God instructed the prophet Jeremiah to do something that seemed completely unreasonable.

He told him to buy a field.

Not after the danger had passed.
Not once the nation was restored.
Right in the middle of the chaos.

Why? Because God was reminding His people that their current circumstances were not the end of the story.

After Jeremiah obeyed, God spoke these powerful words:
"I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?"

It wasn't merely a question. It was a reminder of God's character. God wasn't asking because He needed an answer. He was asking because His people had forgotten who He was. How often do we do the same?

We know God is powerful, yet when our own challenges arise, we begin measuring our problems instead of remembering God's promises. We focus on what we can see instead of trusting the One who sees the whole picture.

The truth is that God's power has never been limited by human circumstances.

The God who created the heavens and the earth is not intimidated by your situation. The God who parted the Red Sea is not overwhelmed by your obstacles. The God who fed thousands with a few loaves and fish is not lacking resources. The God who raised Jesus from the dead is still working today. Can I get an "Hallelujah!"?

This doesn't mean life will always unfold according to our plans. It doesn't mean every prayer will be answered exactly how or when we expect. God's ways are higher than ours, and His purposes often stretch beyond what we can understand. But Jeremiah 32 reminds us that our confidence is not in the outcome we desire...our confidence is in the God we serve.

Faith is not believing that everything will happen exactly as we hope. Faith is believing that God remains faithful regardless of the outcome. Perhaps the impossible thing you're facing today isn't actually beyond God's power. Perhaps it's an invitation to trust Him more deeply.

The question isn't whether God is capable. The question is whether we will trust Him while we wait. As you go through the rest of this week, spend some time reflecting on this question: What situation have you quietly labeled as impossible?

Now place it before God.

The answer to His question remains the same today as it was thousands of years ago.

No. Nothing is too hard for Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You for reminding me that nothing is too difficult for You. Forgive me for the times I focus more on my circumstances than on Your character. Help me trust You when answers seem delayed and when the path forward feels uncertain. Strengthen my faith and remind me that You are always at work, even when I cannot see it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
